To be an iconic brand associated with world-class sporting events that benefit all stakeholders.
The Two Oceans Marathon is globally lauded as ‘the world’s most beautiful marathon’ thanks to the natural splendour of its ultra marathon route. It also boasts South Africa’s biggest Half Marathon.
Each year, courageous runners tackle the 56km ultra marathon voyage which sees them navigate Chapman’s Peak, one of the most spectacular coastal drives in the world.
What started off as the Celtic 35 Mile Road Race in 1970 – born of an initiative by Celtic Harriers – became the Two Oceans Marathon and outpaced expectations to grow into the national institution of a road racing event it is today, injecting an estimated R1,5 billion into the Western Cape economy.
Few runners at the inaugural edition in 1970 could have guessed that the race would sell out year-on-year despite growing in size rapidly, spawning inimitable event champions and making a uniquely indelible mark on not only the South African road running circuit, but on the soul of a nation itself.
To be an iconic brand associated with world-class sporting events that benefit all stakeholders.
To host world-class sporting events for the benefit of the community and all our other stakeholders.

The Two Oceans Marathon Initiative (TOMI) is the philanthropic heartbeat of the Two Oceans Marathon.
The aim is to make a difference where it matters the most.
The Two Oceans Marathon Initiative (TOMI) was launched ahead of the 2012 event, as the philanthropic arm of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC, to provide much-needed funding for charities that match Two Oceans’ four social impact pillars:
As a runner, you have the option of donating directly to one of the four TOMI Pillars when entering.
You also have the option of buying a charity entry. The official charity partners for each event are chosen and published each year.
Since partnering with fundraising platform GivenGain in 2017, R10 275 961* has been raised for 168 charities.
(*Includes R3 838 406 raised for these charities as a result of their affiliation with TOM but donated directly to the charity, instead of via GivenGain).
Be a TOM hero! Your greatest achievement is putting your heart and ‘sole’ on the line when you purchase a charity entry, knowing your run is part of a deeply impactful cycle of positive change. Purchase a charity entry directly from one of our official event charities.
As a charity, community-based upliftment project or philanthropically centred entity, you are welcome to apply to be an event charity partner. Each year, the TOM NPC invites registered charitable organisations to apply to become an official event charity.
Applications for TTOM 2026 Charity Entries have closed.
Following a review of applications against the TOMI criteria, if you are selected to partner with us, you will be able to purchase Two Oceans Marathon entries for the Half or Ultra Marathon. You may then resell to runners.
We also encourage you to register on GivenGain to aid and amplify your fundraising efforts.
We are thrilled that charity entries have become one of the most coveted means of entering TTOM, thanks to the tangible sense of purpose and fulfilment it brings to runners.
TOMI will invite charitable organisations, NPOs and NGOs to apply for funding that will help the entity applying to implement a proposed project aligned to one of TOMI’s four pillars. These pillars are: Education, Environmental sustainability, Health and Wellness and Athletics Development.
You must be a registered organisation involved in demonstrable impact-based upliftment projects in any of the four TOMI pillars listed above.
The application form will be made available when the next round of applications opens.
These applications will be assessed by the TOM NPC TOMI. Chosen beneficiaries will be informed as soon as possible.
Thanks to the generosity of Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon 2024 runners, R223 249 was raised by way of direct donations to TOMI and distributed to successful beneficiaries. This amount excluded the more than R2,4 million raised for 65 charities on our fund-raising platform, GivenGain.
Interested in donating to TOMI in aid of our Beneficiary Programme?
Contact tomi@twooceansmarathon.org.za.
The Two Oceans Marathon (TOM) event is not simply about participating in a great running event, since at the heart of the Two Oceans Marathon is the goal of contributing to a positive change in South Africa, through the activities of the Two Oceans Marathon Initiative (TOMI).
Is your favourite charity registered on GivenGain?
Have your charity apply for a free GivenGain charity account.
Once this charity account is live online, your charity can send a request to fundraising@givengain.com to have their charity profile added to the
TTOM event page.
After each event, TOMI invites charitable organisations to apply for funding to implement a proposed project aligned to one of TOMI’s pillars of education, environmental sustainability, health and wellness, and athletics development.
In a move to support more charities, runners are able to donate directly to the Two Oceans Marathon Initiative, as the charitable entity of the TOM NPC, and select the impact pillar they would ideally like to see supported. These individual donations were once again made upon entering the 2024 event.
Beneficiary applicants will be shortlisted by the TOM NPC TOMI Committee, after which the TOM board will select the final projects that will receive support funding.
Thanks to the generosity of Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon 2024 runners, R223 249 was raised by way of direct donations to TOMI, excluding the more than R2,4 million raised for 65 charities on our fund-raising platform, GivenGain.
TOMI disbursed the total 2023 funds received (R202 425,00) to local and national community-oriented organisations providing support in the spheres of Education, Environmental Sustainability, Health and Wellness, and Athletic Development – the four TOMI pillars – to the following highly commendable charity organisations after a rigorous application procedure:

Ari’s Cancer Foundation, established in 2012, is run by 10 voluntary committee members and inspired by the life of a vibrant young lady Ariana (Ari), who lost her battle to cancer at the age of 24.
Why ‘live, laugh, love’? Unbeknown to us, this was the motto by which Ari lived. It was only after Ari died and we went through her diary to arrange the memorial service, that we found this phrase all over in her diary. Looking back, she really did embrace this philosophy wholeheartedly, and always reminds us that together, we can make a difference. It’s amazing how these three simple words can hold such significance and promise for the thousands of young adults fighting cancer.
The foundation is affiliated with the Red Cross Children’s Hospital, St Luke’s Hospice and Groote Schuur Hospital, and raises funds for Youth Booths and to provide support for families that are fighting cancer or living with cancer. Many of these families have no financial support, medical aid or medical insurance schemes to cover the high expense of cancer treatment.
In September 2014 Ari’s Cancer Foundation pledged to help the Adolescent and Young Adults (AYA) with cancer in South Africa. AYAs are defined as those who are aged between 15 and 39 years old.

Badisa Tygerberg is a Non-Profit Organisation based in Parow and delivers a comprehensive child protection service to the communities of Parow, Parow Valley, Connaught, Ravensmead, Uitsig Eureka, and Cravenby. Not only does the organisation render direct services to children at risk and their families, but also aims to uplift communities through community-based programmes to ensure that children grow up in communities that are safe so that they can reach their full potential and become responsible adults.
For Badisa Tygerberg the term full potential is directly linked to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs which indicates that a child cannot reach self-actualization if his physical needs, safety needs, need for love and belonging, and the need for self-worth and respect are not met. Our participation as a charity during the Two Oceans Marathon creates a perfect platform to create awareness on a larger scale towards child abuse and neglect in society which is an epidemic in South Africa.
Badisa Tygerberg is only partially subsidized by the Government, therefore the organisation relies on the generosity and support of donors, which enables the office to attend to the specific and general needs of communities and the establishment of sustainable development programmes. The vision of Badisa Tygerberg is “Action today, excellence tomorrow”. This can only be realized with the help of donors, who can visualize the needs of others, and who are willing to lend a helping hand.

Cancer takes an enormous toll on everyone it touches. But it is possible to survive its ravages and end up stronger, wiser and more compassionate for having endured the journey. At CHOC we aim to provide the best possible support for children with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders, and their families.
Beginning as a parent support group in 1979, CHOC then developed into a nationwide organization. Our holistic approach includes emotional support in the hospital wards, from diagnosis onwards and practical support ranging from accommodation, transport, Care bags and basic nutritional support.
Without our support, many children – particularly from low-income families living far from treatment centres – would not be able to access, or adhere to, the necessary but arduous treatment cycle, which can last over three years.
Hedley Lewis, CHOC CEO: “For children and families facing cancer, the COVID 19 pandemic has made the challenges of their diagnosis all the more daunting. CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa wants to help these families, so that they do not face this fight alone.”
THE CHOC COWS
The Cows were started in 2008 by a group of eight enthusiastic cyclists keen to make a difference by raising funds for the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation. The founder members joined Kerrin and Grant Bain in cycling the 947 Cycle Challenge in memory of their 20-month-old daughter, Jessica, who had recently died from cancer. As CHOC had played a significant role in the Bain family’s life, the decision was to make CHOC the sole beneficiary of their quest.
They decided to don cow suits (because that was the only animal suit they could hire 8 of!) and they succeeded in raising R230K. In 2009, the herd gained momentum and grew to an incredible 140 energetic cows. Just two years later, the Herd grew to a staggering 350 cows all riding for a purpose. Thirteen years later, thousands of people have participated in events wearing cow suits.
To date the Cows have raised over R50 million for specific projects implemented by CHOC and the Cows brand is prominent in many sporting events in South Africa. With these funds, CHOC is able to make a difference to the children being treated for cancer throughout South Africa.

Goldilocks and the Bear Foundation is a non-profit organization that screens children in underprivileged communities for mental health problems (ADHD, depression, and anxiety). Due to the lack of awareness of mental health problems in these communities and due to the lack of resources in our education system, many children fall through the education system into a life of gangs, crime, and substance abuse.
They are often labeled as naughty, stupid, and lazy, and as a result suffer from low self-esteem, depression, and anxiety. Goldilocks and the Bear Foundation screen and identify children with mental health problems and ensure that early intervention happens to assist these children. All children deserve a proper education and should not let mental health barriers stand in their way.

Help2read is a remarkable non-profit organization dedicated to transforming lives through the power of literacy. With a mission deeply rooted in the belief that every child deserves access to quality education, help2read has been making a significant impact in Western Cape and Gauteng communities.
What sets help2read apart is the innovative approach. We provide critical literacy support and create employment opportunities for unemployed youth. These dedicated young individuals are trained and employed as Literacy Tutors, playing a vital role in providing literacy support to young learners.
Through various engaging activities, these tutors inspire a love for reading and learning in children while developing skills necessary for their next career step.
Additionally, help2read extends its impact to parents by conducting interactive literacy workshops. These workshops empower parents to actively participate in their children’s education, creating a supportive learning environment at home.
Help2Read has introduced Lwazi, a reading doll, inspired by its logo. A symbol of love for reading. Lwazi is a companion and reading partner for young learners, enhancing their reading skills, confidence, and love for learning.
This year, help2read is using the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon to raise funds to provide more children with these reading buddies. A percentage of the funds raised from the ticket sales will go towards purchasing Lwazi and distributing the doll to 10 schools where help2read operates. By supporting help2read, you are contributing to a child’s literacy journey.

The Kathleen Voysey Clinic is a Durban based primary health care clinic. It’s mission is to provide a free primary health service to the indigent, homeless, unemployed or vulnerable aged folk who cannot afford health care. The clinic is staffed by volunteer medical professionals and funded entirely by donations.
The Kathleen Voysey Clinic Trust is a registered NPO and Public Benefit Organisation and has been in operation since 1998. The PBO registration affords the Trust the ability to provide a S18A tax certificate. The clinic has a Board of Trustees and the funds are audited annually. The clinic has a transparent and solid financial history.
It has been independently proven that 65% of the value of the donations received by Kathleen Voysey Clinic accrues to black people as defined in terms of the
Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act as issued by the Department of Trade and Industry.
Donations pay for medicines, medical supplies and other operating costs. The total of which is currently nearing R40,000 per month. The clinic attends to over 3000 patients per year with an average of 8 new patients each week.
Presently we have two doctors, three nursing sisters and three pharmacists who volunteer each Thursday morning. We have a wound dressing station and a private consulting room in addition to the dr’s and nursing sister’s consulting stations.
Our biggest challenge is funding. Our 2025 dream is to improve the dispensary and also expand our time and range of ailments we can attend to. The clinic is the only clinic situated in the Umbilo area.

The goal of Love Your Nuts is to raise awareness of (testicular) cancer by educating communities about the rarely spoken about cancer that often remains undetected in young adults due to our diverse society in South Africa, where cultural taboos, stigmas and a lack of knowledge about the subject is widespread.
The aim is to change young people’s behavior through education and awareness then it becomes a habit for them to look after their health starting at school level already. It takes a village to raise a child, they say. In South Africa, our ‘village’ of local medical professionals, hospitals, universities, government and other NGOs work with Operation Smile to create the most effective solutions for children and adults born with cleft conditions.
Compared to most other African countries, South Africa’s public health care system is advanced. Still, many hospitals are chronically under-resourced and overburdened.
Especially in remote, rural areas, access to specialist medical services is challenging. As a result, children born with cleft conditions have to wait for the help they need. And Covid-19 restrictions just made things worse.
But we remain committed to finding the best solutions for children born with a cleft lip or palate. From short term medical programmes to research, education and training, everything we do has the same goal: to provide the most effective surgical and comprehensive care to cleft patients in South and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Rainbows and Smiles is a community-based, charitable foundation dedicated to providing emotional, social and financial support to children diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening illness, and their families and caregivers.
Our organisation is inspired by the life of Jed Brady Suckling, son of Bonita Suckling, our founder. Jed bravely battled a brain cancer called Anaplastic Astrocytoma for more than three years. He was a little boy who loved giving gifts, and one of his greatest joys was to make his friends smile while they were in hospital being treated.
Rainbows and Smiles was inspired by Jed’s love language of giving gifts, and was established in 2009. Over the years the organisation has grown, but our inspiration is never forgotten, and we remain an approachable and welcoming charity.
Today, volunteers in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Pietermaritzburg and Durban continue the mission of Rainbows and Smiles across those cities and have provided support to hundreds of children and their families. We work with healthcare professionals at various treatment centers to assist where we can with complementary support and care for child cancer warriors and their families.
We are proud to be part of a larger community of organisations that support childhood cancer, and wherever possible, we collaborate and communicate with other like-minded organisations in South Africa and overseas to do what we can to ease the burden of childhood cancer on families.
